"The others were...lightheaded...I didn't intendance for them" - Wes Craven... hahaha.
If y'all are a fan of the Elm Street films this is required viewing at some point in your life. This is the definitive documentary on the franchise with 20-35 minute sections on each film that contains unprecedented access to nearly every actor and part of the picture show-making team.
- Did they know how gay Elm Street two was? Yes and No
- How'd they shoot those epic kills? All explained.
- Wes Craven and Bob Shaye did not love each other... SHOCKING!
- Renny Harlin got to do part four through begging... story included! And much, much more! I recently watched all of the Elm Street films with…

A 4 hr documentary on a series of films, almost of which are little cared for (by audiences, critics and the film-makers alike) - could potentially exist exhausting. Merely Never Sleep Once more doesn't dress itself upwards seriously, instead acknowledging the flaws of the franchise, laughing at its ridiculousness while being nostalgically fond of what they accomplished with small budgets, a game cast and a growing MTV culture that turned Freddy into an icon.
Each film (including the stunted Goggle box series and the standalone Freddy VS Jason) get approximately one-half an hour but the masterstroke is that EVERYBODY (about- there's no Johnny Depp, Patricia Arquette or Bradley Gregg) comes back to talk of their creations, from script to release. There's lilliputian…

After marathoning the series, I had to. HAD TO.
I hadn't had plenty of Freddy.
It'd been far too long since I dug this dvd out.
It makes me appreciate even the entries I don't care and then much for, well no, just Dream Kid, and a picayune chip of Freddys Revenge.

First-class documentary about one of the genres iconic franchises - A Nightmare on Elm Street, characters - Fred Krueger, and studios - New Line Cinema. They interview just about anybody except Johnny Depp and Patricia Arquette. Clu Gulager rules.
A must for whatever fan.
Besides check out the astonishing Crystal Lake Memories past the aforementioned crew, focusing on the Friday the 13th franchise.

This is the perfect accompaniment to the Nightmare franchise. How impressive that they have everyone from all the movies here as interviewees, it's a huge feat what they've done with this documentary.
It's 4 hours long and excellent from beginning to cease. It goes through the franchise with a fine tooth comb, you learn and so much about the making of all of these crawly movies, I loved hearing all these little tidbits from the cast and crew of the series.
Total fan service, simply damn is it quality fan service.

Three hours later
GF: "OH MY GOD WHEN IS THIS FUCKING OVER?!"
Me: "lolz."

Really, Jack Sholder, really? You didn't realize all the gay subtext (and not and then sub) in your movie? Wow, what idiot.
I was lacking in my Nightmare on Elm Street viewing until I met my husband. I had simply seen the original and Dream Warrior. So we went through the movies in order over the grade of a week. Before we watched Part 2, my married man said "Okay, I take someone ideas well-nigh this 1. I'1000 interested if you find it, too." It didn't take long until I said "Wow, this movie really has some homosexual overtones." He said "Run across?! I was right!" And so he was.
While watching this documentary, when they got to discussing Part 2, he felt…

It'south very rare that I review documentaries hither, but this one was so good that I felt it would be a necessity to go over information technology. A few users pointed this documentary out to me after I watched New Nightmare fairly recently, and looking it up had me intrigued. Never Sleep Again is a detailed retrospective of the Nightmare on Elm Street serial that doesn't pull any punches with its runtime or insight.
Every single chapter in the franchise (including the short-lived TV show and the Friday the 13th crossover) is explored, with clips from the series and archive footage, interviews with directors, cast/crew members, makeup artists and studio executives (who all describe their on and off-set experiences), and production…

I can't overemphasize how important Wes Craven is in my life.
-Heather LangenkampSubsequently watching all those special features and making of featurettes on the Scream Blu-rays final calendar month it reminded me that I had this in my collection and had withal to watch it, and then I had taken information technology out and put aside to remind me and at present later yesterday it seemed appropriate to watch it.
Watching A Nightmare on Elm Street for the umpteenth time was swell, as it ever is, but I was in the mood to listen to Wes Craven retell the stories for his inspiration for the pic and various other stories about making the film. Subsequently years of watching various specials on these films…

immersive and agreeable as ever, detailing Elm Street's expansive and invasive attain into horror and modern cinema equally a whole. Never Sleep Again is riddled with so many enthralling backside-the-scenes moments, magnifying the grandeur within low-budget filmmaking with Wes Craven's impeccable vision that somewhen gave birth to several sequels that, while some were certainly improve than others, all had so much graphic symbol and individualistic value to themselves and the series all the same. between the production hands and the associates of impending carcasses awaiting the razor hook's demise, the memorable moments are boundless, and with the added history of New Line Cinema's break from the trunk of one human being'due south car to Oscar-winning mammoth, the tagline "the house that Freddy built" bears so much reverence for another impossibly thrilling foray into the slasher—of dreams, and of nightmares.

If you enjoy the The Nightmare on Elm Street movies this is essential and nearly perfect. Even if you have only seen a few of the films I believe that this documentary gives amazing insight into how films get made and franchises are created.
